In existence since August 1996, the story of the Four Foundation can only be told by going back to March 1994. It was at that time that Christopher Tarallo, at age 14, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After successful surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy treatment, the Tarallo family believed that they would work to spare other children and families similar anguish, as well as provide pediatric programs for the many children being treated at NY Presbyterian Medical Center.

The best hope, the Tarallos felt, lay in the creation of a foundation to raise necessary funds to support both goals. Thus was born the Four Foundation, named for Chris' baseball jersey number which he had worn during an outstanding "career" prior to his illness.

Since the creation of the foundation many committed and inspiring people and organizations have joined together to make the Four Foundation a reality and a success. The Foundation:
  • is supported by donors and volunteers, including community leaders, corporate and business organizations, and caring citizens. A partial list of corporate supporters includes: Barnes and Noble, Chase Melon Shareholder Services, Givaudan-Roure, Outback Steakhouse, and Sovereign Bank. Cable television networks such as A&E, Fox, HBO, The History Channel, MSG, MTV and Turner Network are also supporters. The David Cone Charitable Fund also is a supporter of the foundation.

  • supports the world renowned Bartoli Brain Tumor Research Laboratory at Columbia University under the leadership of the eminent Dr. Jeffrey Bruce.

  • has provided hundreds of holiday gifts, Easter baskets, and sponsors a swim party and barbecue for hundreds of deserving pediatric patients at Children's Hospital of New York.
Your special gifts can make the Four Foundation's ongoing work a continued success and a source of hope.

Please join in our effort by supporting the important research that keeps hope alive and the programs that bring terrific smiles to the pediatric patients.
