Event Sponsorship Opportunity

Help-A-Child-Smile Foundation (HACS), in partnership with the Boomer Esiason Foundation (BEF), Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA), and the Four Foundation, are proud to present the first annual Thrive to Ride For Kids Motorcycle Run. Our goal is to raise $100,000 from this event, and all net proceeds from the event will be shared equally among these charities.

You can make a donation, become a sponsor or register to ride at the following website:
http://www.help-a-child-smile.org

* Help–A-Child-Smile Foundation (HACS) http://www.help-a-child-smile.org -  raises funds to increase awareness of the needs of children in foster care in Bergen County, NJ as well as provide them with fun and educational opportunities and a chance to enjoy life.

   * Boomer Esiason Foundation (BEF) http://www.esiason.org - heightens awareness, education and the quality of life for those affected by cystic fibrosis, while providing financial support to research aimed at finding a cure.

   * Four Foundation http://www.fourfoundation.org  - raises funds for brain tumor research at New York Presbyterian Medical Center and supports activities to enrich the lives of pediatric patients at Children’s Hospital of New York

   * Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA) http://www.curefa.org – raises funds for research and promoting awareness for Friedreich’s ataxia (FA) which is a debilitating, life-shortening, degenerative neuro-muscular disorder.

This alliance of charitable organizations strives to achieve one common goal-to help children in need, by raising money for medical treatments, advancing research and awareness for children stricken with incurable diseases, and improving the overall quality of life of children in foster care.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Your generosity will help children suffering from brain tumors, Cystic Fibrosis, Friedreich’s Ataxia, and the psychological effects of abandonment and homelessness.

NYC HARBOR CRUISE

On September 25th, 2004 the Four Foundation sponsored a NYC Harbor Cruise for pediatric cancer patients at Children's Hospital of NY.  The children and their families had a great time and really enjoyed the day.  Our goal is to provide a day of fun for the children and their families away from the hospital environment.

Everyone was entertained by the magician, Andy Roberts of Monday Night Magic.  His ability to make Doves magically appear had everyone mesmerized.  Everyone was also entertained by DJ, Steven Bennett of Musical Impressions Unlimited.  He had the children singing and dancing and just having a great time!

We would like to share a recent e-mail (below) we received from one of the families attending the event.

Hello to the Tarallo family,

I am writing this email on behalf of my family and I, to thank you all for the wonderful time on Saturday. My son is a patient at Columbia Presbyterian hospital he was diagnosed with a rare disease called Severe Aplastic anemia. At the present time his health is on an o.k. level, Unfortunately it looks as if he is loosing his stem cell transplant.

My family and I are hoping that its not true and that he will get better soon, so that he can become the baseball player that he has always wanted to be. My point of writing this letter is to thank you all very much for all that you've been doing for the patient's and their families at Columbia Presbyterian hospital.

Sincerely Thankful for everything

 Miriam Nieves/ Son Victor Padilla : )
